DARUMA bibit Type:&

is an original art doll by Japanese artist KEN IKEDA. Rooted in the Japanese tradition of the daruma doll, a symbol of perseverance and good fortune, this piece reimagines the iconic form through a contemporary artistic lens.

  • Artist: KEN IKEDA
  • Size: Size 5 (approx. 15 cm)
  • Includes: Pedestal
  • Edition: One-of-a-kind original (1 of 1), handmade by the artist

The daruma is traditionally used when setting a goal: one eye is painted in at the start, and the second upon achieving it.

This is a decorative art doll, not a toy. Not suitable for children.

How it's made

One-of-a-kind works by the artist

Every ICBA piece is made by hand and exists only once. KEN IKEDA paints his wave panels with acrylic ink and spray paint, reimagines the traditional daruma as contemporary art dolls, and brings his designs to Hasami ware, a Nagasaki porcelain tradition of over 400 years. Nothing is repeated, so the piece you see is the piece you receive.
