Okado Somen is a premium handmade thin wheat noodle with a history stretching back to the Edo period, crafted in Tonami City, Toyama Prefecture, Japan.
Each bundle is wrapped in traditional Japanese washi paper bearing the name of the individual producer — a hallmark of the artisan care that goes into every batch.
Following an age-old custom known as kan-zukuri (cold-season production), these noodles are made only from early winter through early spring, resulting in a naturally limited supply.
- Firm, springy texture thanks to the slow hand-stretching process
- Smooth finish that works beautifully in both chilled and hot preparations
- Simply cook by splitting the long strands in two before boiling
- Excellent served cold as classic somen, or warm as nyumen (somen in hot broth)
