Momentum Factory Orii is based in Takaoka, Toyama — a town with over 400 years of history as a center for cast metalwork. What began in 1950 as Orii Coloring Workshop, founded by Taketaro Orii, is now led by his grandson, Koji Orii, who continues to push a traditional technique in new directions: the hand-coloring of cast copper. Every piece is colored by hand, using a Japanese patination method passed down across three generations — producing patterns and textures that can never be exactly repeated.
